What’S The Difference Between Empathy And Sympathy

Empathy is the ability to understand and share the feelings of another person, while sympathy is the ability to recognize and understand another person’s feelings, but not necessarily to share them. Empathy is feeling with the other person, while sympathy is feeling for the other person. People who are empathetic can sense the other person’s feelings as their own, while people who are sympathetic may feel compassion or pity but don’t necessarily experience another person’s feelings. Empathy is the more intense and personal of the two.
