What Is The Difference Between Physical Activity And Exercise

Al Imran

Physical activity is any activity that you do that requires energy and movement, such as walking, running, and lifting weights. It can include leisure activities such as gardening, playing sport, or walking your dog. Physical activity can also include everyday activities such as walking to work, taking the stairs instead of the lift, or carrying shopping bags.

Exercise is a type of physical activity that is planned, structured, repetitive and purposeful, and has as its goal the improvement or maintenance of physical fitness and overall health. Exercise is usually divided into two categories, aerobic and anaerobic. Aerobic activities increase heart rate and breathing, such as running, swimming or cycling. Anaerobic exercises focus on short bursts of activity, such as lifting weights or sprinting.
